Impunity strikes back! Kenyan Anti-corruption watchdog Mars Group comes under fire

Kenyan anti-corruption watchdog Mars Group Kenya today was yet again the subject of parliamentary proceedings. The organisation which has been instrumental in exposing the famed Anglo-Leasing promissory note saga as well as more recently a Kshs. 10 billion discrepancy in the nation's supplementary budget, has now been accused of espionage.

A question brought to the house by Hon. John Mututho, himself linked with allegations of supplying sub-standard hospital beds to the Kenyatta National Hospital (Kenya's largest referral facility), asks "the circumstances under which computers at the Treasury were accessed and information obtained by the Mars Group regarding discrepancies in the Supplementary Estimates".

Mars Group to date maintains that it managed to identify the supplementary budget errors by using the printed estimates which are available, and in the public domain. However, Mututho reads mischief...
