Mr. David Iyorfor, spokesperson of Governor Rotimi Amaechi, says he is unaware of any ongoing investigations into the activities of the Rivers State Governor.

According to him the only time his boss was under investigation was between 2006 and 2007 when he was contesting for the post of governorship.

Mr Ayafor said that his boss was cleared of all allegations before he was sworn in as Governor.

He denied strongly allegations from a Nigerian news website that Governor Rotimi Amaechi contributed some 3.5million dollars to the 2008 NDC campaign through former president Rawlings.

“We’ve seen the report from pointblank news but the point I want to make is that pointblank news is a news block.

"It just went ahead and published a story that cannot be confirmed, no documentary evidence, and they just went ahead and published a story.

"What would sound very funny and unbelievable is that the media in Ghana would just go ahead and lift the story from pointblank without making any effort to investigate the story or make contact with us; there is absolutely no truth in the report from pointblank story,” he said.

The
Daily Guide Newspaper on Monday, June 22 reported that Rotimi Amaechi, Governor of River State in Nigeria, currently under investigations from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria (EFCC) allegedly gave out $3.5 million to the NDC through its founder, Jerry John Rawlings.

Spokesperson for the former president, Kofi Adams however rubbished the reports calling it “baloney”.

Meanwhile when
citi news spoke to the Nigerian publisher of the website, (pointblanknews.com), who first carried the story, he stood by his publication.

He insisted that his story is “true, credible and verifiable”.

Jackson Ude has thus challenged all who wish to verify the authenticity of his story to do so from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria.

He insists that the rivers state Governor is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria for siphoning state funds and diverting some to the 2008 NDC campaign through former president Rawlings.
